ECM Country Weekend

East Central MA -  Chelmsford Stars Come 4th continues in ECM Country Weekend.  A talent show in the East Central Massachusetts town. 

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick talks about pension reform.

Adam Starr takes us on a long drive – time lapsed – from Pony, Montana to ECM Country’s Shrewsbury.  Mr. Starr please stop touting having driving 24-hours non-stop – it’s against the law in most states.

Mass 5th District Rep Visits ECM Country

Groton, MA – Saturday, June 20th Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, Democrat, meets with constituents for a couple of hours at Shaw’s Supermarket on Boston Road in Groton. 

Tsongas in her official announcement, also phoned to voters last night, lists her availability from 10AM EDT to 12PM EDT at the supermarket. "Accessibility and accountability to the families of the Fifth District allows me to provide you with the best constituent services possible," said Congresswoman Niki Tsongas.  "I want to make it as easy as possible for people to come see me and share their opinions, ideas, and talk about their needs."

The congresswoman is bringing staff with her.  Seems to ECM News she expects to accomplish much in two hours on Saturday morning. "My most important duty is to make sure that I remain in touch with and am easily accessible to the Fifth District residents I represent," Tsongas added.  "I want to know how they feel about the bills Congress is considering, and I want to be able to connect with people to make sure they know of the many ways my office can help.  I look forward to meeting as many people as possible on Saturday."

ECM Country Citizenship Quiz

East Central MA – This weekend, just two weeks before celebration of independence of the United States of America, East Central Massachusetts News introduces our Citizenship Quiz as a regular feature.

Simple questions each citizen of the United States is expected  to answer.  Questions will come from ECM News’ “Massachusetts Citizenship Anthology” of public documents.  There’s  little challenging about our quizzes.  The answers are simple and easy to find with documents in the anthology published below. 

Citizenship is fundamental and we hope to renew understanding of civics and participation as tenants of democracy.  The July 4th holiday is just two weeks away and ECM News’ first citizenship question is so easy.

Driving Safety in ECM Country

East Central MA – A lot of focus recently given to senior drivers and safety.  The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles tells New England Cable News the state agency weeds out dangerous drivers over the age of 65-years.

RMV officials claim a “proven record” of action against dangerous senior drivers.  The Registry points out “since January 2007, the RMV has revoked or suspended the licenses of 1,811 drivers age 65 years and older.”

Winners Democracy Now

East Central MA -  Six winners from eighteen finalists in the Democracy Your Voice Your Video Challenge.  Almost a thousand videographers from nearly one hundred countries shared their view of democracy.

Massachusetts Governor Signs Pension Reform Legislation

Civics for Boys in Massachusetts

North Easton, MA -  Massachusetts Boys State conducts week long civics education for young males in the Bay State.  Boys State 2009 seeks to educate the future leaders of ECM Country and America in governmental affairs.  They began last weekend at Stonehill College and will go on all week until Friday with day long activities.  Here’s a YouTube report they put together.

Taxes and Town Meetings in ECM Country

Boston, MA – On Beacon Hill Massachusetts lawmakers are in action debating a billion dollars in taxes.  Governor Deval Patrick, Democrat, presented his reform plan for the Bay State and yesterday Republicans took their turn laying out a GOP reform plan.  Watch and listen to the Grand Ole Party presentation.
