Boston, MA - This week Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter also known as Clark Rockefeller was convicted in a Massachusetts court of kidnapping his daughter. ECM Country citizens may read about Rockefeller almost anywhere but finding an example of behavior of citizens who decided Gerhartsreiter’s guilt requires some work.
The jurors, who’s foreman is a Harvard University Law professor, gave a brief statement to the media and none of the citizens were identified by name.

Boston, MA – The Governor's Office of Civic Engagement finds Google calendars and makes public a schedule of events involving members of Governor Deval Patrick’s branch of state government.

East Central MA – President Obama’s staff today begins public participation in what the White House says “sets the stage for that conversation by summarizing the input we received on participation during the Brainstorm,” started a week ago.
The Executive branch of United States government reports thousands of citizens took part in Phase 1 of the President’s “Open Government Brainstorm.” Phase 2, officials, say was the Discussion stage leading to public involvement. The project is headed by Beth Noveck, Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Open Government.
Here’s how Noveck has grouped the topics for the discussion starting today through Saturday.
Enhancing citizen participation in government decision-making
Promoting civic education
Improving technology and policy frameworks
Enhancing e-rulemaking

The White House has a chronology of how four days of public discourse is to play out.
Today - address "Enhancing citizen participation in government decision-making." On this topic, you offered a number of suggestions.
Tomorrow - turn from talking about how government can create better opportunities for participation to address how to promote the civic literacy needed to participate effectively in government.
Friday - will focus on technology, the other on policy and talk about the policies we need to support the adoption of new tools for civic engagement by federal agencies.
Saturday - open up a dialogue on the specific topic of how to improve online public participation in agency rulemaking and talk about the new Regulations.gov Exchange site, which is set up specifically to generate brainstorming about how to enhance the quality of participation in rulemaking processes.
