May have been a quiet and orderly meeting in the town center with a quorum for Hazen Memorial Library trustees meeting in the Shirley facility.
The Friends of the Hazen Memorial Library, however, issued an SOS for volunteers on election day. The Friends warn the library faces loss of state certification if the town cuts its budget any deeper.
About 40-hours of service was trimmed off the schedule for two months in the last quarter of 2008 according to library director Debra Roy.
So The Friends are calling for volunteers to staff tables on election day and pass out literature to maintain library certification.
The last day to call and volunteer is Thursday, May 7 by noon. Call Leslie Cady, The Friends VP, at 978-425-2315 or email her at lescady@ix.netcom.com.
There’s a briefing for volunteers on Saturday afternoon.
Here are some dates to note:
May 7th deadline to volunteer to help Friends of library election day.
May 9th, 1:15 PM EDT at the library volunteer briefing
May 9th Mother Daughter Tea 12 PM EDT
May 12th Election Day
Preparing for the election tomorrow.
