Get Ready to Vote In Shirley Tuesday

Two contests on the municipal election ballot in Shirley, MA Tuesday, May 12th.  The chair of the Hazen Memorial Library Trustees, Judy Stanislaw is stepping down after a couple of decades of service to the town of Shirley. Susan M. Johnston wants to serve another three years as trustee but Dwight W. Smith challenges her for a first term.

In the other contest newcomer Kendra Dumont stepped down as chairperson of the Shirley Republican Town Committee to take on Leonardo “Chip” Guercio, who has served 16 years on the board.  That’s four years longer than Dumont has lived in Shirley.

Guercio seemed completely unconcerned when BOS chairman Enrico Cappucci was questioned about his support for the GOP’s Dumont.  Cappucci stood up for Dumont and his support for the new comer.enrico cappucci

Dumont is a 47-year old business owner, co-owner of Snipets Hair Salon in Groton.  EMC News offers this photo in place of the one we failed to obtain of Dumont.

Guercio responded to the tiny dust up saying his campaign manager was absent.  The owner of the Bull Run Restaurant was quiet in response to Cappucci’s on the record endorsement of Dumont.

In conversations on ECM News the sentiment has been it’s time for change.  Bill commented Guercio, in his opinion, has served too long.  Bill said he attended the candidates debate last week before ECM News launched.

Bill wrote “Mr. Guercio has led us down the road we are now on with absolutely no vision for the future.”

The 55-year old Guercio is a life long resident of Shirley.
